95 Mountain Vista Middle School Students Promoted

by: Denise Taylor, Principal, Mountain Vista Middle School

It has been an amazing year for the class of 2016!  Wednesday, May 23, 2012 marked a new chapter in their lives as 95 students were promoted from Mountain Vista Middle School and became Sabercat Freshman.

The Sabercat Percussion Ensemble played while the students entered the San Tan Foothills High School gymnasium.

Our National Anthem was sung by Wolverine Samantha Arrneds.

The Wolverine student speakers included Presley Wolters, Bethany Szatkowski, and Alexis Marciniak.  Nineteen of the students in the Algebra 1 class passed the exam earning them the high school Algebra Math credit.  Four students had a perfect score:  Madison Harris, Denise Alvarado, Jordan Hayes, and Tyler Rainboth.  The class of 2016 was welcomed to Sabercat country by San Tan Foothills High School Principal Steve Adolph.  Keynote Speaker Sheriff Paul Babeu spoke to the class of 2016 about focusing on their dreams and doing their best in school.  The ceremony concluded with the distribution of promotion certificates.

The Class of 2016 was then treated to a parent sponsored dance whose theme was “Night at the Oscars”.  National Junior Honor Society volunteers Nicholas Umali, Michael Tucker, and Ruby Eversole provided valet service at the curb, an escort up the red carpet into the dance and catering service under the supervision of Ms. Tracy Szatkowski and Mrs. Sonya Umali.  The Class of 2016 and the staff of Mountain Vista Middle School would like to thank Superintendent Dr. Cecilia Johnson, Assistant Superintendent Patricia Jimenez, Coolidge Unified School District #21 Governing Board Members, President Kristi Freader, Vice President Thomas Shope, and Member Jack Malpass,  Sheriff Paul Babeu, Principal Steve Adolph, Assistant Principal Robert Edwards, Band Director William McDonald and the Sabercat drum line, and all the families for making the 2012 Promotion Ceremony so special for the students.  Congratulations to the Class of 2016!
