Walker Butte K-8 Teacher Awarded AzTEA Teacher of the Year

Arizona Technology in Education (AzTEA) President Elect Kim Thomas and Westside Chapter President Laura Sheehy were on hand at the March FUSD Board Meeting to present the AzTEA Innovation Award for Teacher of the Year to Walker Butte 5th grade teacher Gabriel Carrillo.

Ms. Thomas stated that the judges were particularly impressed with the fact that Mr. Carrillo seeks out free programs to enhance the tools and software provided by the District and then shares his discoveries with other Walker Butte teachers and staff, creating a culture of technology throughout the school that has increased staff efficiency and facilitated student achievement. Florence USD administrators and staff are very proud and excited that one of our own has been selected for this prestigious honor. Mr. Carrillo has now been recommended by AzTEA for the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Outstanding Teacher award.
