The Town of Florence is holding two neighborhood meetings to discuss the Town’s plans to annex approximately 3,742 acres contiguous to the current Florence corporate limits and within the Town’s northwest Planning Area through two separate annexations. The areas under consideration include Magic Ranch, Crestfield Manner, Wild Horse Estates and surrounding areas.

The current corporate limits for Florence is just over 62 square miles. If these annexations are approved, then the corporate limits of Florence would increase to nearly 68 square miles.

A completely new wireless network is up and running throughout the office of the Clerk of the Superior Court and almost the entire Courthouse building in Florence.  The network is independent of the Pinal County network. “Being able to provide something that our customers have asked for time and time again is gratifying. Wireless connectivity is important to the general public, to the attorneys who use our services and the Judiciary as well,” said Chad Roche, Clerk of the Superior Court.

Man Stabbed at Country Thunder

On April 13th, 2013 at 5:27 a.m., the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office working the Country Thunder event in Florence received reports of a verbal argument that was escalating between two groups.

As Pinal County Sheriff deputies arrived on scene they found a 36-year-old male with stab wounds to the upper back and rib cage. He was treated and airlifted to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn where he underwent surgery and is in critical condition.

Starting April 2, Pinal County Air Quality will only issue 3-day open burning permits.  All permits will expire by May 1 and Pinal County will suspend the issuance of open burning permits on April 26.

Burn permits allow for the disposal of plant material by open burning during limited daytime hours.

Pinal County Recorder Virginia Ross announced on Friday that election services for the public, and for candidates, will be moved to the Recorder’s Voter Registration Office at 31 North Pinal Street, Building E.

The Pinal County Elections Office located on 383 North Main Street will be closed to the public beginning Monday March 18th and the space will be converted into a secure elections warehouse and ballot processing center.

Judge Shaun Babeu proposes DV court to be restructured, and no longer centered in Apache Junction

Citing a crippling expansion of the Domestic Violence (DV) Specialty Court located in Apache Junction, Judge Shaun Babeu has drafted a procedures manual aimed at optimizing resources by screening offenders, narrowing the number of adult supervision cases and opening a new felony DV court in Florence.

Over the past few months, Curis Resources has been issuing news releases right and left in an effort to make it appear that they are just days away from beginning a “pilot test facility” on the State land parcel that is an island within Florence Town limits.

Historic 1891 Courthouse Dedication

On December 19th at 2pm, the Historic 1891 Courthouse in Florence, AZ celebrated its dedication and ribbon cutting.

This rehabilitation and renovation project has been designated an Arizona Centennial Legacy Project by the Arizona Historical Advisory Commission.

It is believed to be the state's largest and most ambitious Centennial Legacy Project, restoring and preserving this landmark building while also providing meeting space for groups and organizations throughout the community.

In addition, this facility will now be the new home of the Pinal County Board of Supervisors.

An eighth inmate from the Arizona State Prison Complex Eyman in Florence was transported yesterday (November 26) for assessment and observation.  His condition has not reached a threshold that the medical team and CDC believe anti-toxin should be administered.  He is still undergoing evaluation.
