Governor Jan Brewer Issues Emergency Declaration Following Highway 89 Collapse
Governor Jan Brewer today issued a Declaration of Emergency in response to the recent collapse of a portion of U.S. Highway 89, near Page, Arizona. The Declaration will assist the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) with seeking reimbursement from the Federal Highway Administration for necessary repairs to the roadway.

Governor Jan Brewer Introduces Summer Reading Initiative
Program will encourage childhood reading, support new, more rigorous academic standards
Governor Jan Brewer today unveiled her new Summer Reading List Program, a statewide collaborative effort to encourage Arizona children to improve their reading skills over the summer break. The Governor announced the initiative while speaking to schoolchildren and staff at Acacia Elementary School, in Phoenix.
