Turns Up Meth, Cocaine, Marijuana and Cash

Two Eloy men are behind bars following a traffic stop which capped off a month‐long drug trafficking investigation.

On 8/27/2012 units with the Pinal County Narcotics Task Force initiated a traffic stop on Adam Chavarria, 20, of Eloy after watching him leave a residence where investigators believed he was trafficking drugs.

During the traffic stop Chavarria was immediately taken into custody after a registration check showed he was operating the vehicle on a suspended license.

As deputies cleared the vehicle for tow, investigators discovered and seized a variety of narcotics including:

Methamphetamine, 101.2 g ($2,700 street value), Cocaine, 1.4 g ($250 street value), Marijuana, 36.6 g ($100 street value).

Deputies also seized $1,025 in cash from Chavarria.

A passenger in the vehicle identified as Christian Colin‐Ortiz, 18, of Eloy was also taken into custody. Both men face charges of Possession of a Dangerous Drug,  Possession of a Dangerous Drug for Sale, Transportation of a Dangerous Drug,  Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana.

The PCNTF was initially alerted of Chavarria’s drug operation based on information reported by a citizen to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.

“Great work on behalf of the dedicated men and women assigned to the Pinal County Narcotics Task Force,” Sheriff Paul Babeu said. “We will continue targeting criminals who distribute narcotics throughout our communities and I encourage anyone with information on others who may be dealing any drugs to report them to law enforcement immediately.”
