Virginia Man Killed In G.C. Crash

by: AJ News

A Virginia man was killed and a Pinal County deputy was injured when three cars collided about 10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in Gold Canyon.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the Pinal County deputy was traveling west on U.S. Highway 60 when a Chevrolet pickup, driven by 57-year-old Jeffrey Sorenson, made a U-turn.

The deputy reportedly tboned the pickup, causing fatal injuries to the driver.

After the crash, the driver of a third vehicle, who did not notice the vehicles, sideswiped the deputy’s patrol vehicle.

The deputy was airlifted to local area hospital with serious, but nonlife-threatening injuries. The driver of the third vehicle was transported to the hospital because she was eight months pregnant.

She was treated and released.
