AJFD Deputy Fire Chief Dave Montgomery has been named to replace Casa Grande Fire Chief Scott Miller as the new president of the Fire Chiefs Association of Pinal County (FCAPC).

Miller leaves after serving for eight years as the president of this organization. The FCAPC represents nearly 30 fire departments and fire districts throughout Pinal County, as well as a host of other organizations that manage health and public safety in the county.

FCAPC provides an organized forum allowing for professional development through networking, education and information distribution for the sole purpose of improving fire service in Pinal County.

The Fire Chiefs Association of Pinal County serves both municipal fire departments and rural fire districts around Pinal County.  FCAPC has a strong membership of educational and health care system partners with Central Arizona College and Central Arizona Valley Institute of Technology (CAVIT), Casa Grande Regional Medical Center, Air Evac, Native Air and Life Net, all assisting the organization to meet the collective needs of its members.

“Bringing together chief officers and principal decision makers from all of these organizations helps to make the residents of Pinal County safer, and allows a networking of ideas and strengthens our mutual aid bonds” stated Montgomery. “I look forward to the challenge of continuing the great work that Chief Miller and others have set in motion to keep Pinal County fire service at a premiere level.”

Montgomery is a 22-year veteran of the Apache Junction Fire District, starting as a reserve firefighter in 1989. He oversees the Community Services Division and serves as fire marshal. He attained his certified public manager designation from the Arizona State University’s School of Public Affairs in 2004, and in 2009 became the first certified fire investigator of the AJFD.

He has been married to Tammy for 30 years  and they are the parents of four children, and also have three grandchildren.
