Born and raised in Scottsdale, Carvalho started his culinary interest at a young age. Coming fron an Italian Portuguese family he learned many different authentic recipes. At age 14, Carvalho worked in his first high volume kitchen, Giordano’s Italian Cuisine and quickly moved to a line cook. By age 15, he was promoted to assistant chef.
Carvalho attended Arizona Culinary institute in Scottsdale and worked as an intern at Grayhawk Golf Club. He has also worked at such local restaurants as Wildfish Seafood Grille at the Scottsdale Waterfront, at which point he received an offer to become a Sous Chef at one of the top seafood restaurants in the valley, Maestro’s Ocean Club. As the Executive Sous Chef at Maestro’s, he managed roughly forty employees. During his career at Maestro’s, Carvalho successfully grew their catering business, gave private lessons, and appeared on television numerous times. (Including with Cory from Fox, pictured here).
All visitors are invited to experience the updated menu at the on-site Tuscan-inspired eatery del Piero, which serves breakfast, fresh gourmet sandwiches, panini, soups, salads, wine, and gelato. Enjoy the “Kalamata” sandwich featured recently on the Food Network’s Best Thing I Ever Ate, as well as many new menu items created by Chef Carvalho and other celebrated favorites. Dine indoors or outdoors under the olive trees with a stunning view of the nearby San Tan Mountains.
While in our gourmet marketplace, you can also shop for local and direct import wines and a variety of unique products made by other local artisans such as honey, assorted nuts, jellies, grilling rubs, coffee, and custom gift boxes, as esll as their own products, including their signature Tuscan Estate extra virgin olive oil, tapenades, and stuffed olives.
Queen Creek Olive Mill is located on the corner of Combs Road and Rittenhouse Road in Queen Creek .
