San Tan Valley, Ariz. – Good morning. This photo that appeared in SanTanValley.com of Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu and Governor Jan Brewer has received many inquiries both locally and nationally.

The photo was taken at Poston Butte High School yesterday at a Centennial ceremony hosted by Sheriff Babeu with special guest Gov. Brewer to preside over the celebration.

The ceremony was attended by over 1,750 students, faculty and members of the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.

At the ceremony, Governor Brewer re- administered the law enforcement oath to our members, Sheriff Babeu and Governor Brewer then presented the senior graduating class a check for $5,000 for their graduation night ceremony and members of the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Youth Explorers presented Governor Brewer with yellow roses to appreciate her friendship and support of law enforcement.

The photo of Sheriff Babeu and Governor Brewer is being sent around as it appears similar to the one taken of Governor Brewer pointing and appearing to lecture President Obama, as he stepped off Air Force One. Unlike the photo with President Obama, Governor Brewer was not talking about the need to help our economy or need to secure our southern border.

The photo was shown on Fox News last night and as a result we have received several inquiries. The photo of Sheriff Babeu and Governor Brewer is provided courtesy of SanTanValley.com. Fox News host Greta Van Susteran commented, 'We don't know what Gov. Brewer was saying to Pinal Sheriff Paul Babeu, but it appears she is an equal opportunity pointer.'

Sheriff Babeu and Gov. Brewer are political allies and friends and the Sheriff wanted to make it clear that there was no confrontation between he and the Governor. Sheriff Babeu said, "Governor Brewer visited Pinal County to celebrate our centennial and she was received like a rock star and the students simply loved her. Unlike President Obama, I have done my job, enforced all the laws and would never give guns to the Mexican drug cartels we're fighting. Governor Brewer was not scolding me in this picture, she was telling me to keep up the fight and that we are winning."

The Public Information Officer advises management of community relations’ projects and activities and answer questions concerning the Sheriff’s Office from the public, media, employees and other jurisdictions.

Elias has an extensive media background and is a decorated graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, where he earned his degree in broadcast journalism.  Elias has worked not only in the Phoenix media market as a reporter but also in his home state of Iowa.
