With the rise in family obesity set to get worse with each passing year, those in the public eye are at odds with how to combat the problem.

Local fitness and health expert couple Asad and Michelle Tufail, owners of Fitness Revolution Queen Creek, have the answer: give people direct access to fresh produce and fitness training all in the same location.

Michelle introduced a novel way to get people eating fresh produce by partnering with Market on the Move to provide 60 lbs of fresh produce for $10.

Market on the Move is brought to you by the 3000 Club a non-profit organization who states, “The 3000 Club is a group of like-minded individuals, small business owners, volunteers and non-profit agencies and organizations who bond together in order to help rescue the millions of pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables and distribute these instead to everyone especially to the needy and hungry families deeply affected by the challenging economy we are currently in. Men and women, especially the children are at risk of getting Type Two Diabetes for lack of fresh, nutritional fruits and vegetables in their diets. The people who need the produce may very well be our next door neighbour or our close friend who are undergoing transition in their current lifestyle.

Every year, The 3000 Club members, supporters and volunteers help to:

  • Rescue about 30 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Distribute over $45,000 worth of produce.
  • Provide over 23 million meals.
  • Help more than 460,000 families in need.
  • Distribute fresh produce to more than 300 food banks and agencies across Arizona and throughout the United States.

The first Market on the Move event held at Fitness Revolution Queen Creek is on Saturday March 10, 2012 from 8a.m. to Noon. There is sure to be a Farmers' Market atmosphere with live music and local vendors adding to the excitement on the day.

Asad explains, “We motivated our members to start making healthy nutritional changes. We've already seen some great lifestyle transformations and we wanted to spread the message to the general community whilst also aiding non-profit organizations.”

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate, anticipation is growing fast.

“I think the high interest shows that people care not only about their own health but also about the greater good. Linking the two is a great way for people to get over any inhibitions they might have for eating healthy and being active.”

Fitness Revolution strives to partner with other organizations such as Market on the Move to provide a complete solution to get people fit and healthy.

Fitness Revolution Queen Creek is located at 2769 E Combs Road, 85140.
