Supervisors David Snider and Pete Rios, were among many guests, at the Pinal County Public Health Clinic's Ribbon Cutting, that took place Tuesday, Feb 21st at 2pm.
The clinic in San Tan Valley, is the second clinic that has opened in 2012, the first opened in Maricopa earlier this month.
Opening the new clinics is "imperative" to the health of the residents of Pinal County, Mr. Schryer said. Before these clinics were opened, only 40% of the population was within 10 miles of a clinic. With the addition of these two clinics, 70% of the population will now have access.
In 2007, voters approved a .01 cent sales tax, which paid for the land and development of the clinics.
Lori Linder, interim CEO of Banner Ironwood, was thrilled with the opening of the new clinic, which is just down the street from Banner Ironwood. "This opens the door to a great partnership between our organizations." While there will be times that county patients will find they need additional health care and can take advantage of the proximity of the hospital, there will also be times when Banner can direct patients to the clinic for more routine procedures, that Banner is not equipped to provide.
The clinics will provide:
- FREE Childhood Immunizations (walk-ins welcome)
- Adult Immunizations – MMR, TdaP, Hepatitis B, Flu shots (walk-ins welcome)
- PPD/TB skin testing (walk-ins welcome)
- Family Planning/Reproductive Health Services (by appointment)
- Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted disease (walk-ins welcome)
- Well Woman health check/breast and cervical cancer screening (by appointment)

Although there was a small set back regarding furniture, the clinic in San Tan Valley is open for regular business hours. Until the furniture is moved in and installed, services will be provided by the mobile Pinal County Public Health Clinic, that will be parked in front of the clinic.
The San Tan Valley county health clinic is at 36375 N. Gantzel Road, and is open 8am-6pm Monday - Thursday.
