Andrew was flown to Maricopa County Medical Center in critical condition, while his mother and his brother, in serious condition, were flown out for treatment as well.
Now, almost 15 days later, we have learned that while Andrew's mother and brother have since been released from the hospital, that Andrew, a star athlete and standout student, suffered major injuries to his spine and is paralyzed from the neck down.
In response to a request from a family friend of Andrew Ackert, Chick-fil-A @Queen Creek is hosting Fight For Andrew on Monday April 23, from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. This will be a community event and they will be creating as many fundraising opportunities as possible (e.g. Bounce House will charge $1.00 to enter). Chick-fil-A will also donate 20% of all sales during those two hours. An account has also been setup at Chase Bank under the name Andrew Ackert (Chase Bank Account #3021184808).
Another fundraiser taking place April 16th, from 4pm-7pm is also being held at Sweetie Peaz - 85 W Combs Suite #111, San Tan Valley, AZ. You can print this flyer and bring it in to have 20% of your sale donated back to the Ackert Family.
