The Monsoon heard of Berlin’s story and have stepped up to help raise funds to help cover the cost of the medical expenses estimated to be over $20,000. The team will hold a car wash this Sunday, July 29, from 8:00am until 12 noon at the Denny’s located on the corner of Hunt Highway and Gary Road.
“We really feel for Berlin and her family,” said General Manager Oscar Guardado. “Our new home is in San Tan Valley and it is fitting that our team step up and help a member of this community. We hope people will make the trip over to the Denny’s this Sunday and help this little girl get the help she desperately needs.”
Sarah Carpel, a friend of the Jaeger family, is overwhelmed by the amount of support San Tan Valley has offered to Berlin.
“What an amazing community we live in,” Carpel said. “Local businesses have stepped up to donate a portion of their profits, the residents have donated what they can, it’s very heartwarming.
Carpel says the Phoenix Monsoon’s car wash should be a great event for everyone involved.
“We are pleased that they are taking the time to help Berlin,” Carpel said. “We hope to have some local vendors out as well. They are welcome to come set up and sell their wares as long as they do not block the entrance to Denny’s and they offer a portion of their profits to helping the Jaegers raise the money they need.”
Even though the Monsoon’s season is over, the team is looking forward to becoming more involved in San Tan Valley.
“This has been a very interesting season for us,” Guardado said. “We have moved our operations to the San Tan Valley area. We now play our home games at Poston Butte High School. We are looking forward to next season and we are also looking forward to Sunday’s car wash.”
