Sunday evening a strong monsoon storm blew threw San Tan Valley. Roads all over the area were closed and many were left unable to get to/from their homes and work.
In addition to the inconveniences that many residents faced, another family is mourning the loss of their 2 year old little boy.
During the storm, the child was swept away in a wash behind the home. A neighbor called 911 at 6:20 p.m to report the child missing.
A citizen on an ATV located the child and brought the child to emergency crews.
"Heavy flooding prohibited air units to respond as well as ground units to access where the child was located," said PCSO spokesman Elias Johnson.
According to authorities, the child was transported to Banner Ironwood unresponsive where he was taken off of life support and pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m.
