The stork was busy this summer in San Tan Valley!

Doctors at Banner Ironwood Medical Center in San Tan Valley delivered 106 babies during the month of August which is not only a record-breaking month for deliveries at the hospital, it’s also an overall record breaker for the facility’s Women and Infant Service since opening on Nov. 1, 2010.

On Aug. 30, Banner Ironwood celebrated the birth of its 100th baby, Silas Rees born to Michelle Rees of San Tan Valley. Silas came into the world weighing in at 7 pounds, 8 ounces. Even with one more day left in the month, doctors weren’t finished delivering. Soon, six more babies arrived. On Aug. 31, Banner Ironwood finished off the month with its 106th baby born to Tamara and Jeremy Miller of San Tan Valley. Jameson Henry is the record-breaking baby, who arrived just before 9 p.m. weighing in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces. On average, doctors at Banner Ironwood Medical Center deliver about 80 babies per month. This past August shatters the previous record of 94 babies born July 2011.

Beckee Lucas, RN manager for Women and Infant Services at Banner Ironwood says, “We couldn't be more excited and proud of accomplishing this goal! We couldn't have done it without the hard work from our absolutely fabulous staff and physicians and the support from the community.”
