Chase and Babeu, Sad but true.

by: William Dumanch

Thursday night, at the candidate forum at Anthem’s excellent venue, I was witness to candidate tampering during the event.

Come to find out, there were 5 total witnesses to this event.

Candidate Cheryl Chase was getting answers sent to her, via her cellular telephone.

By her boss, Sherriff Paul Babeu.

This type of off-duty conduct by the Sherriff and his assistant have now brought back into view other private affairs by both Chase and Babeu.

For candidate Chase, her citations for DUI, her accidents driving Pinal County cars while under license suspension, using County Deputies (who pays for this?) to ferry her to and from work, make her announcing the fact she will “Look out for the voters” to be called into question-a question of honesty and integrity, now suspect.

For Sheriff Babeu, he asked for the residents of Pinal County to respect his privacy in the pursuit of his personal life.

We all agreed to this. No problem. It’s his off-duty time.

But now, after eye-witnesses (5) observed his attempt to influence the outcome of the candidate forum, his personal conduct in his off-duty time has opened up the race for Sheriff wide open. The charges against him-the seizure of his computers from the office-the overspending by the department by almost 3 million dollars-has made Pinal County the laugh-riot of local station 550 KFYI radio.

We can ill-afford the present County Board, with their profligate spending. Second highest tax rate-in the ENTIRE STATE of ARIZONA. This Board was sworn in Jan. 2009, same as the group in Washington.

The results have been a mirror image. Disaster.

We need a clean sweep in our leadership at the Sherriff’s Department, the second such in 4 years.

And, for our new County Board, a true clean-up of the Supervisors who are there.

NO to professional politicians-from ANY party.

Throw ‘em ALL out!
