Ms. Verdugo, a former member of the Coolidge City Council, won the August 28th primary to compete for one of two state representative seats in Arizona’s Legislative District 8.
Ms Verdugo was recognized as a rising star along with such names as actress Eva Longoria, U.S. Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis, San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, the keynote speaker at the 2012 Democratic National Convention, and White House Domestic Policy Council chair Cecilia Muñoz.
“I am honored to receive such an important recognition with the likes of actors and national policy leaders,” she said. “I am working to bring a voice for the people of District 8, who are struggling daily, and our current policy must change. We must ensure that a future Arizona is stronger, better, together.”
