ADOT to begin hearings on new link for I-10 and US60

by: Lindsey Collom - The Arizona Republic

The Arizona Department of Transportation is seeking public comment on a potential new route in Pinal County that would link Interstate 10 and US 60.

Held today in Florence will be the first of three public meetings on a North-South Corridor Study to identify and evaluate possible transportation routes.

Past studies, the last completed in 2006, indicated a need for the highway.

The number of Pinal County residents - about 340,000 - is projected to nearly triple in size by 2025. A north-south corridor would make rapidly growing areas of Pinal County, such as San Tan Valley, more easily accessible, said Teresa Welborn, an ADOT spokesperson.
