Upcoming ADOT work on US 60/Gold Canyon area

by: Heather Murphy

The Arizona Department of Transportation has advised Pinal County of upcoming work on US 60 in the Gold Canyon area.  Please see the advisory below.

We hope you have had a chance to view the Veterans' Resource page that was just added to the Pinal County website.  If not, please check out our homepage at www.pinalcountyaz.gov.  You'll find the gray bar to access the veterans page on the left side of the main page.  While you're there, also check out the 1891 Courthouse Renovation project.  This is our Arizona Centennial Legacy Project and construction is proceeding nicely.  Scaffolding is up around the building, windows have been removed for restoration work and there is lots of activity at the site on any given day.

Our public safety personnel and state and local road crews appreciate it when you exercise extra caution when traveling through construction zones.  Please be safe.

U.S. 60 pavement repairs through Gold Canyon begin May 10

Drivers should expect westbound lane restrictions

Crews will be working to repair pavement on westbound U.S. 60 between Peralta Road and Silly Mountain Road beginning Thursday (May 10), according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

What to expect:

  • The repairs will be in three areas
    • near King’s Ranch Road
    • between the fire station and Mountainbrook Road
    • near Superstition Mountain Road in front of Basha’s
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday (May 10), preliminary work will begin
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday (May 14), pavement removal and shoulder work
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday (May 15), paving and temporary striping
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, (May 16), general cleanup and shoulder work
  • The left westbound traffic lane will be closed through each work zone.
  • Law enforcement personnel will be present to direct drivers through intersections
  • Permanent striping will be applied in mid-June.

ADOT appreciates the patience of Gold Canyon residents as it works to complete the U.S. 60 repaving project and advises drivers to proceed through the work zones with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
