Reported Attempted Abduction in San Tan Valley
Community Alert regarding a reported assault on 14-year-old female in San Tan Valley.
On Feb. 3, at about 7 a.m., PCSO deputies received a report of an incident involving a 14-year-old female who said that an unknown male had grabbed her while she was walking on Cambria Drive from Zampino Street, in San Tan Valley. She was walking west toward her bus stop, alone, when this happened. She did not see the man's face clearly, but thought he was a dark-skinned white or Hispanic male, described as 5' 7" tall, wearing dark pants and a hooded sweater obscuring his face.
The victim described the male walking towards her on the sidewalk at about 6:30 a.m. As he passed her, he grabbed her around the shoulders in what she called a bear-hug. She screamed and waived at a passing car, at which time the male released his hold and she ran away. She last saw the man walking toward Kenworthy on Cambria.
The incident was reported to the sheriff's office about 30 minutes after it occurred. No suspects or witnesses have been located at this time. School officials have been notified of the incident and are working with PCSO to inform parents and the community of the incident.
