There was a time when the image and sights of a Renaissance Faire that might be found in a number of states around the country would only resemble a 16th Century European village and marketplace.

Truly, the Arizona Renaissance Festival, now in it its 24th year, has evolved from a cornucopia of sights and sounds, bringing to life the ambiance of an early European village celebration, to one of amazing and diverse artisans and educational learnings taking place throughout its Village Lanes. Adding value to the revered Festival’s local tradition and integrating into its mission is the newest addition of a diverse application of science that caters to all ages, particularly students.

This addition is part of the ARIZONA SCITECH festival’s outreach in partnership with the Renaissance Festival. It’s not just a festival anymore. The educational focus with a twist of science that is part of today’s Renaissance Festival now gives students, families, teachers and all ages, the chance to do more than just read about history…all Festival attendees may now experience it…

The annual Renaissance Festival, with its 30-acre theatrical European Market Village, offers a unique opportunity to bring an important era in history to life.

It is now possible to immerse students into the 16th century through the 2012 Festival creation of “Student Days.” Student Days have been introduced to highlight the educational aspects of the Renaissance; language, mannerisms, customs, comedia theatre, jousting, tournaments, artisan demonstrations and music are just some of the re-enactments featured.

The Arizona Renaissance Festival Student Days takes place Feb. 14 and 16th and includes such things like:

The Age of Discovery and the Science and Business of the Black Plague (for Elementary students).

And, the Age of Discovery (for Middle School and High School students).

They will be held at the Festival grounds, 12601 E. Hwy 60, Apache Junction, 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
