The Classic Movie Matinee Series kicks off on Thursday, June 21, at the college’s Corporate Center in Casa Grande. The movies and their scheduled screenings are as follows:
June 21 - Corporate Center - The Man With the Golden Arm, Starring Frank Sinatra
The Man with the Golden Arm is a 1955 American drama film based on the novel of the same name by Nelson Algren. The film tells the story of a heroin addict who gets clean while in prison but who faces many struggles in the outside world, including being framed for murder.
June 28 - Casa Grande Center - One Eyed Jacks, Starring Marlon Brando
Running from the law after a bank robbery in Mexico, Dad Longworth finds an opportunity to take the stolen gold and leave his partner Rio to be captured.
July 12 - Saddlebrook Center - Something to Sing About, Starring James Cagney
A New York bandleader journeys to Hollywood when he is offered a contract with a studio, but he is determined to do things his way and not theirs.
July 19 - Coolidge Center - Born to the West, Starring John Wayne
Can Wayne prove he is responsible enough to win the heart of Judy and also outwit a crooked saloon owner?
Aug. 2 - San Tan Center - The Mark of Zorro
In old Spanish California, the oppressive colonial government is opposed by Zorro, masked champion of the people, who appears out of nowhere with flashing sword and an athletic sense of humor, scarring the faces of evildoers with his mark. Meanwhile, beautiful Lolita is courted by villainous Captain Ramon, rich but effete Don Diego, and dashing Zorro, who is never seen at the same time as Don Diego. As Zorro continues to evade pursuit, Ramon puts the damsel in distress.

Aug. 16 - Florence Center - The Big Trees, Starring Kirk Douglas
A Quaker colony tries to save the Giant Sequoias from a timber baron.
