A National Day of Mourning will be observed by the United States Postal Service Wednesday, Dec. 5.

President Donald J. Trump has declared December 5 as a national day of mourning, calling on Americans to remember the vast contributions of former President George H.W. Bush.

Out of respect for the 41st President of the United States and to honor his vast contributions to our country during his lifetime, and consistent with the Presidential Proclamation, the United States Postal Service will suspend regular mail deliveries, retail services and administrative office activity on Dec. 5.

  • All Post Office® locations will be closed.
  • Regular mail will not be delivered.
  • Package delivery will be limited.

USPS will provide limited package delivery service on that day to ensure that their network remains fluid and they do not experience any impacts to their package delivery operations that might negatively affect their customers or business partners during the remainder of the busy holiday season.

Packages from private companies like FedEx and UPS should still arrive as normal.
