Pinal County Attorney's Office Brightens Holidays for Over 200 Children with DCS Angel Tree Initiative

In a heartwarming display of holiday spirit and community service, the staff of the Pinal County Attorney's Office (PCAO) has brought festive cheer to over 200 children in need. Participating in the Department of Child Safety's (DCS) Angel Tree for the seventh consecutive year, the PCAO staff demonstrated their unwavering commitment to supporting vulnerable populations within their community.

This annual tradition, initiated by County Attorney Kent Volkmer seven years ago, focuses on aiding a segment of the population that often goes unnoticed during the holiday season. These children, under the legal care of DCS but still residing with their families, frequently face financial hardships that make it challenging for their families to afford holiday gifts. Recognizing this plight, the PCAO staff steps in to 'adopt' these children during the festive season, ensuring they do not miss out on the joy of receiving presents.

The process begins with DCS caseworkers identifying families with limited financial resources and children at risk of not receiving any holiday gifts. Collaboratively, they work with the children and their families to compile a wishlist. This list serves as a guide for the PCAO staff, enabling them to purchase gifts that align with the children's preferences and needs.

This year's initiative was particularly successful, with the PCAO staff purchasing and donating over 200 gifts, each thoughtfully selected to bring smiles to the faces of these deserving children. County Attorney Kent Volkmer expressed his profound pride and admiration for his team's efforts. "I continue to be amazed and am so proud of our team who stepped up this holiday season to truly help the most vulnerable in our community," he stated. He also shared his hopes that these gifts would not only bring joy and happiness to the children but also uplift their spirits during this festive season.

The PCAO's participation in the DCS Angel Tree exemplifies the true essence of the holiday spirit – giving, kindness, and community support. It's a reminder that small acts of generosity can have a significant impact on the lives of others, particularly those in need. Through initiatives like these, the Pinal County Attorney's Office is not only fulfilling its legal responsibilities but also playing a vital role in building a compassionate and caring community.
