Updated: JO Combs Bond Election Recount

This request was made in response to the Pinal County Elections Department's acknowledgment that there were errors and math discrepancies in tabulating the votes for the J.O. Combs bond measure and, further, because the Elections Department reversed its earlier conclusion that voters passed the bond. We sought a recount because, among other reasons, we believe a recount will help resolve confusion, restore the trust of the voters and bring closure to this matter.

I am pleased to share that hours after receiving our written request for a recount, the Pinal County Elections Department notified us of its plan to conduct a full recount on Thursday, November 12th. The Elections Department stated in its response to the letter that, “in a show of good faith, we will conduct a recount of the J.O. Combs School District bond election because of the unique situation presented here.”

We are confident that the recount is the right thing to do, both to alleviate the concerns of electors and confirm the accuracy of election results.

We appreciate that the Elections Department has agreed to conduct the recount for what is a very important measure affecting our community.

UPDATE PROVIDED BY Michele Forney, Elections Director - Pinal County Elections:

The recount has been completed and the results that are posted on the Election Department’s website have been confirmed. There were 1,426 yes votes and 1,442 no votes. The other school district races were not part of the recount. We will not be posting any additional reports.
