San Tan Valley Teen Faces Second-Degree Murder Charge

In San Tan Valley, a 17-year-old named Anthony Jason Garcia is facing second-degree murder charges as an adult. The charges are in connection with the death of another 17-year-old, Jamiere Jenkins, which occurred in the Cambria neighborhood on November 28.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) was called to the scene near North Cortona and Cambria Drives, close to Gantzel and Ocotillo roads, following reports of gunfire at approximately 5:10 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies found Jenkins with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital but later pronounced dead.

Sheriff Mark Lamb, in a statement released via social media, indicated that the shooting happened after a verbal altercation between the two teenagers. According to Lamb, "One of them pulled out a gun and fired one round, striking the victim in the neck." Lamb also noted that the vehicle involved was identified using Ring camera footage from the neighborhood.

The court has set Garcia's bail at $100,000. Details from the court documents regarding the case have been limited.

All individuals believed to have been in the vehicle at the time of the shooting have been interviewed by deputies, as confirmed by PCSO. However, the exact number of people in the vehicle has not been disclosed.
