Leading Edge Academy San Tan Earns 3rd Place in State Track Meet

Leading Edge Academy San Tan Junior High Girls Track Team earned 3rd place overall in Division I at the 2017 Canyon Athletic Association State Track & Field Championships held on May 12 and 13. Friday’s events were hosted at Valley Christian High School in Chandler, while Saturday’s events were held at Queen Creek High School. Track team coach, Nick Towner, successfully trained his “Little School that COULD” without the benefit of an official track or field on which to practice.

Before 2009, no one had ever heard about San Tan Valley. Why? It didn't exist. The area that became known as San Tan Valley on June 23, 2009, had previously been called almost anything else. Some called it Queen Creek (which it was never a part of, causing its own list of problems), some referred to the area as the name of the housing subdivision they lived in such as Johnson Ranch, San Tan Heights or Pecan Creek. Others called it Pinal County while others simply called it "land way out there".
